Christmas break

While I don't officially have a Christmas break (on account of being a working woman, haha), it's been a great couple of weeks since Trey finished his finals! We managed to make it to every family's Christmas, despite the blizzard, and we've gotten to spend fun time with friends, as well. We went to Eishen's with a group from Trey's med school class. We also went to a Thunder game with one of my best friends Emily and her husband, Michael, who is also in Trey's class. And most recently, we spent a few days in Fort Worth to celebrate Allie and Mark's wedding on New Year's Eve! Trey got to catch up with the SigEp guys and I had a blast with all the girls. It was especially great to see Rachel, since she's been busy working in Dallas since she graduated.

I'm an aunt! Sort of...

Introducing Duncan Geurkink! He's the newest addition to our family and is so full of joy and love. He's a silver lab that Jack and Kayla got a few months ago. Jack has already spent a lot of time training him...he's so smart and playful! You can't help but laugh at all the silly things he does--like crawling under the coffee table and pouncing on Woody, haha. He's already 4 times the size he is in the picture (above)! He's quite a mess, but we all love him so much.

My First Tree!

It's amazing how much joy can be found in the little things. Having a Christmas tree in my apartment over the holiday season has made me feel so at home. I'm so proud of my little 7-foot pre-lit tree. And I'm thankful for all the ornaments that have been given to me (mostly by my mom) over time. Each one is special to me.

Wedding Season has officially ended.

August was quite the month for marriages in my world. Sheridan, Emily, and Tati were all so sweet to let me be a part of their special day.

First, Sheridan's wedding in Duncan was a big hit! It was so fun to be at the wedding with most of my extended family too, haha. The navy bridesmaids' dresses were fabulous and good times were had by all.

Next, my precious summer roomate, Emily, got married in OKC! Her ceremony was so special and sweet and the food at her reception was AMAZING. However, I forgot my camera....dangit. Just trust me that she looked beautiful! Here's a fun picture of us from the engagement party.

Last (on August 15th), Tati and David tied the knot in Norman. (I just read that "tying the knot" is some sort of Jewish...or was it Swedish?...tradition where the bride and groom are actually tied together with a rope at the ceremony. No. Seriously.) Anyway, Tati's wedding had incredible ceremony music and some of the coolest, unique personal vows I've ever heard. I went home sick around 7:30, but Trey stayed at the party so he could tell me how much fun I missed at the reception. Haha.

Love my best friend :)

Well, I just got home from spending Labor Day Weekend with Stephanie and her husband, Jackson, in Florida! We got to go to the beach three mornings in a row, relax and watch football, and eat good food! Steph has been my best friend since like 5th-ish grade, and even though we've lived in different places since high school, I'm so blessed to still call her one of my closest, dearest friends. I got to ask her to be one of my matrons of honor in Trey's and my wedding too! :) And her 24th birthday is coming up on Friday--Happy Birthday, Steph!

Family Vacation

Recently, there have been several life moments that I would consider blog worthy. I'll mention one thing at a time. :)

Shortly after our engagement, Trey and I headed to Snowmass/Aspen, CO with my parents, my brother and his now-fiance, Kayla. Our vacation was filled with golf, tennis, eating, and plenty of relaxing. Most importantly, Jack proposed on top of a mountain (pretty perfect, right?). Trey and I were blessed to take part in their special moment and capture some pictures for them. Trey and Kayla fit perfectly into our close-knit family. I predict that Jack, Trey, and my dad will always keep us laughing.

We're engaged!

What a weekend. Short version of the story: Trey COMPLETELY surprised me and proposed in his parents' backyard on Thursday evening. I was so surprised again when our friends and families met us at the Skirvin to celebrate afterwards. I love Trey with my whole heart and can't wait for our future together. We're headed to Colorado today with my family, but I'll have a more detailed update (and pictures) when we get back in town. Thanks again to everyone for making this such a fun, special time for us. :) We're so excited!!!
